If You're a Stay-at-Home Parent, You Should Be Making $96,000

Each year . . . usually around Mother's Day . . . people try to figure out how much mothers would make if they earned fair-market value for all the services they provide.
--For some reason, Investopedia decided to get a four-month jump, and calculated how much a stay-at-home parent is worth in 2012. And if you're a homemaker that doesn't have a paying job . . . someone owes you $96,260 a year
--Private chef: Stay-at-home parents are responsible for preparing meals, but they're more than just a cook. They also plan the menu and shop for the ingredients. Private chefs earn about $1,005 a week, or $52,260 a year.
--House cleaner: Vacuuming, dusting, dishes, and other cleaning services would run you about $118 a week, or $6,136 a year.
--Child care: Nannies generally earn at least $600 a week, or $31,200 a year, plus benefits.

Taylor Swift talks new album with Vogue

Considering the North American leg of her Speak Now tour wrapped months ago, it's no surprise that Taylor Swift is busy crafting a new album.
That much was confirmed by MTV News in December, though back then, the Grammy performer and Hunger Games songstress was keeping quiet when it came to describing her work-in-progress. "It's a secret," she said at the time, "it will be unveiled when it all comes out."
For her new Vogue cover story, however, Swift has been a bit more generous with information about Speak Now's follow-up, and though the six-page profile reveals the 22-year-old is currently single ("I got nothing going on! I just don't really feel like dating."), her new songs are apparently inspired by a relationship.
"There's just been this earth-shattering, not recent, but absolute crash-and-burn heartbreak," Swift told Vogue, "and that will turn out to be what the next album is about."

HOLLAND, Mich. -- Pawn shops are big business this time of year, thanks to the holidays and tough economic times. However, one particular West Michigan store is generating buzz over a small treasure many consider priceless.
As owner of A-Z Outlet in Holland, Bryan Vandenbosch has purchased a lot of electronics, jewelry, and tools, but after almost 19 years in business, he bought something he never expected -- a Purple Heart, a medal awarded to U.S. troops wounded in battle. This one was earned in Afghanistan in May 2010.
"[The Soldier had] been in here the week [before Thanksgiving]," says Vandenbosch. "He brought it in the following week, I purchased it from him, and put it on display."
Vandenbosch says the active-duty Soldier, on leave from Afghanistan, was reluctant to sell the medal at first, but like a lot of people, he needed a little extra cash for the holiday ...

iPhone is Number One on List of 2011's Top 10 Yahoo! Searches

Yahoo! has released its 11th annual list of the year's top 10 searches via its search engine, and the iPhone came in at Number One, in this year it which service was available for it through providers other than AT&T for the first time. The iPhone moved up from sixth on the list last year, when the top search was the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. This year's top ten:

- Kim Kardashian
- Katy Perry
- Jennifer Lopez
- Lindsay Lohan
- American Idol
- Jennifer Aniston

In addition to the people who are in the Top 10, at least one person is notable for not making it -- Britney Spears -- who was on the list for nine years, including often being in the top spot.
